The following information applies to these components
Instead of adding items manually to a List block, you can automatically populate it using dynamic content from a Content Group.
Understanding Dynamic Content
Prerequisites
Before continuing, ensure you have a Content Group containing a Repeatable Structure field.
Scenario 1: Multiple Content Group Items Using One Template
You can use a single Block Page as a template for multiple items in a Content Group. For example, if you have several products that need to follow the same layout, you can create one template and use it to display each product’s content dynamically.
To set this up, use a Grid with Child page type, as explained in the following guide.
Once your child Block Page is ready, assign a Content Group to the parent page:
- In the left-hand panel, click the next to the page and select .
- Under the Dynamic Content panel, select your chosen Content Group from the drop-down menu.
- Select the items from the Content Group you want to make available to the page by clicking the , or select to select all items in the Content Group.
Then, add and configure the List block:
- Open the child Block Page where you want to add the List block.
- Click then .
- Select List and click .
- Select the block and make sure BLOCK is selected in the selection bar that appears above or below the block.
- Click the and select the appropriate data fields from the drop-down menu — in this case: List to use will select the Repeatable Structure from your Content Group; and Text to use will select either the respective title or description.
Scenario 2: Populating a Single Page with a Single Content Group Item
You can also populate an individual Block Page with content from a Content Group. This is useful when you want to manage content separately from the page editor, or when you already have an established Content Group and want to feature a particular product or case study for an event or customer experience.
First, assign a Content Group to the page:
- In the left-hand panel, click the next to the page and select .
- Under the Dynamic Content panel, select your chosen Content Group from the drop-down menu.
- Select the item from the Content Group you want to make available to the page by clicking the .
Then apply the dynamic content to your List block:
- Click then .
- Select List and click .
- Select the List and make sure BLOCK is selected in the selection bar that appears above or below the block.
- Click the and select the appropriate data field from the drop-down menu — in this case: List to use will select the Repeatable Structure from your Content Group; and Text to use will select either the respective title or description.
List Block Settings
When dynamically supplying a List block with content from a Content Group, the only setting available to you is the Bullet Symbol option. This setting will decide what precedes each list item. The available styles are:
- None — displays no marker.
- Disk — displays a standard solid bullet point.
- Circle — displays a hollow bullet point.
- Square — displays a solid square.
- Number — lists the items numerically.
- Alpha — lists the items alphabetically.
- Roman — lists the items using Roman numerals.
- Check — displays a check mark.
